This 2017 wedding season started off better than we could have imagined! We are so pleased and honoured to bear witness to such an adorably wonderful couple, let alone for our first wedding of the season!
Julie & Mathieu tied the knot in a small ceremony outside of Sidedoor, a contemporary kitchen and bar, located in the Byward Market – the heart of downtown Ottawa. As two cultures verged into one, there were many modern décor elements combined with traditional Chinese décor. The Bride’s DIY centerpieces were silver and gold, overflowing with roses, babies breath and handmade paper flowers made from maps! Chinese lanterns were strung elegantly throughout the restaurant and together, they cut a stunning naked cake by Top Of The Hill Bakery with a large Chinese symbol on top meaning “double happiness.” Guests were ushered into a quiet, stone-covered courtyard and were entertained by the sweet acoustic sounds of Mark Fossen. After their vows, all guests were brought inside to enjoy cocktail hour and a delicious sit down dinner in the restaurant, all provided by Sidedoor. Guests and the happily married couple danced all night long to the musical styling of James Butros from InTouch Media – like seriously, they wouldn’t stop dancing! Julie & Mathieu’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their laid-back, yet sophisticated, charming and kind nature as a couple.
